My dearest son Aloysius,
What a joy this morning in receiving your most beautiful letter. It made us all so happy. Yes, so happy. Since last Saturday at noon, our hearts were bleeding because we all love you so much and just began to miss your corporal presence. I have said two Masses Saturday and I pleaded all the Saints, during the Consecration, to stand up and, at one accord, to clamor to God the Father, with Christ, in Christ, and through Christ, the High Priest, for your perseverance that you be a holy priest. Yesterday I finished my Novena for you.
Sunday, I continued the same way in my two Masses. One was attended by a hugh crowd. I said the Mass in the center of the (chapel), so that the people could see the priests from all sides. With all those people, I prayed at the Consecration for you, my dearest son, to bring you back and to make a masterpiece out of your soul. I pleaded with God for you and I didn't want any "no" for an answer.
Your letter this morning, as I felt so low, revived me and I couldn't help but to tell all here... about your beautiful letter, so beautifully expressed. There's a real joy now among us because our most valuable member will be back. I continue having you within my heart, to offer everything for your vocation. And I will send, constantly, the Angels to help you, console you, surround you, and accompany you everywhere, and above all to shelter you against the demons. You are very special, and I must do all I can for you...
Everyone here sends their very best to you. Really, my dearest son, their very best, because they all love you very much. And their spirits this morning, on receiving your letter have changed from deep sadness to hilarious joy. May our dearest St Aloysius bestow all his attention and devotion on you.
Your spiritual father who loves you with a big, big heart,
Fr. Aloysius Ellacuria, C.M.F.
